WINCHESTER — The Winchester School Committee voted 5-0 to reaffirm a $1.5 million spring town meeting request for a Morocco School feasibility study. Superintendent Dr. Hackett said the project must proceed within a Massachusetts School Building Authority 270-day window ending November 27 or risk losing eligibility entirely, warning "if we don't spend it, they will move on." Three residents, including Seamus Brady and Alyssa Loring Torella, urged support during public comment, citing more than $25 million in urgent building repair needs.

The committee held off finalizing a $785,000 literacy curriculum funding article until its April 7 meeting, pending updated cost estimates. Its budget subcommittee separately reported the district needs about $2.3 million in cuts or fee increases to close its post-override budget gap. The committee also voted 5-0 to approve 2026-27 subcommittee appointments.
