Winchester Zoning Board extends comprehensive-permit hearing deadline, continues Melanson housing case to March 12. Chair Wendy Simbole's board unanimously accepted an updated affordable-unit list for the proposed 64-unit development at Washington and Swanton streets, showing 16 affordable units, 13 at 80 percent of area median income and three at 60 percent. Attorney Mark Vaughn, representing applicant Brian Melanson of Melanson Development, said the team eliminated one waiver after a favorable stormwater peer review and called the project's parking plan "very much justified." Architect Michelle Littlefield of Cube 3 said some units swapped locations between buildings, with affordability designations following them.
The board granted an extension to close the hearing until March 31 while it awaits a formal opinion from town counsel on the waiver package before drafting conditions.
