Planning Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Winchester Planning Board unanimously backed a Mount Vernon Street addition design and continued the special permit hearing. Chair Jack LeMenager and members John Cortizas, Keri Layton, Amy Beliveau and Brian Vernaglia voted 5-0 to find a proposed third-story addition at 10-16 Mount Vernon Street, PB 26-2, consistent with the town's design review guidelines under zoning bylaw section 7.3.17. Former board advisor Dennis Carlone, joining late after a Zoom mix-up, called the addition's massing "an intelligent approach" but faulted the ground-floor storefronts as the building's least historically responsive feature.
The board continued the public hearing to October 6 at 7 p.m. in the Select Board room, also voting 5-0, to leave room for more public input, particularly on brick and mortar selection, which Town Planner Taylor Herman said remains unresolved.
