Winchester Preservation Committee Seeks Public Input on 2026 Fund Allocation

Winchester preservation committee presents pilot-year results and opens 2026 priorities to public input. The Committee on Community Preservation, funded by a 1.5 percent property tax surcharge with an expected $255,000 state match in 2027, reported that 12 of 13 applications submitted during its 2025 pilot year were recommended for and approved by Town Meeting. Christina Marshall, Chair, outlined the 2026 funding cycle and highlighted a proposed 14-acre Forest Ridge land acquisition to be funded through bonds with debt service covered by Community Preservation Fund revenue.
Initial applications for 2026 are due May 1 or later, with final applications due June 1, and Fall Town Meeting will vote on recommendations.
