Housing board approves affordable housing deal for Mt. Vernon Street project

WINCHESTER — Housing Partnership Board approves MOU for three affordable units at 33 Mt. Vernon Street. The 8-2 vote with one abstention (Tom Howley) authorized Chair John Suhrbier to sign an agreement under which the Winchester Affordable Housing Trust will use $1,685,000 of a $2 million Payment in Lieu to provide a $561,666 per-unit subsidy for three deed-restricted one-bedroom condos at 80 percent AMI.
Buyers will have the option to purchase parking at $34,000 (discounted from market rate of $100,000); the town will administer marketing and lottery. Bill McGonigle and Keri Layton opposed; dismissal of the underlying appeal will occur within five days of Planning Board approval of interior changes.
