Design Review Committee approves revised Manchester Road addition, rejects Washington Street design
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE - TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE · Meeting of March 4, 2026
WINCHESTER — Design Review Committee approves revised design for Manchester Road two-family addition. The committee unanimously supported the project at 25 Manchester Road with conditions requiring removal of a canopy element and extension of the lower eave across the front façade, after architect Guy Dickson and the applicants agreed to address concerns about perceived mass and front façade length. In separate votes, the committee unanimously rejected a new two-family residence at 540-542 Washington Street because the garage placement was visually dominant over entryways, contrary to town design standards; architect Brigitte Steines was urged to withdraw and resubmit with revised positioning.
A third proposal at 233 High Street for demolition and reconstruction was rejected unanimously in the applicant's absence, with unresolved questions about mature tree removal and material specifications remaining.
