Conservation Commission backs Vale wetland restoration grant proposal.

WINCHESTER — Conservation Commission votes unanimously to support federal grant proposal for wetland restoration. The Mystic Valley Watershed Association-led project targets floodplain storage and wetland restoration across Winchester, Arlington, Medford, and Melrose, with feasibility analysis and fieldwork planned at the former Kraft parcel. The Commission, chaired by Tracy Olson, also advanced scout projects including a 36-inch kiosk installation at Locke Farm by April 18 and bee house installations at three conservation areas.
Members discussed a proposed nine million dollar town override for operating expenses and 2.5 million dollars for capital projects to fund water quality programs. Aberjona Day is scheduled for May 2 with trash pickup and invasive species removal across multiple town locations.
