Conservation Commission approves forest appraisal, rodenticide ban support

WINCHESTER — Conservation Commission approves Forest Ridge appraisal, backs rodenticide ban. The Winchester commission unanimously authorized a $5,000 appraisal proposal by Jason Dono with a 60-day deliverable, funded from the conservation fund unless grant support is obtained, to support Forest Ridge's ongoing consideration for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. Chair Tracy Olson and Vice Chair Tom Boulay were unanimously elected to their respective leadership positions.
The board voted unanimously to support state home rule authority allowing municipalities to ban first and second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides, aligning with the commission's conservation mission. Administrator Elaine Vreeland reported the town council has approved an access agreement for Forest Ridge.
