WINCHESTER — Community Preservation Committee approves reporting oversight policy; examines major forest land acquisition. Winchester's Committee on Community Preservation voted unanimously to adopt a new WCCP Reporting Policy requiring quarterly progress reports from applicants and granting the panel access to project records. The committee also held a public informational hearing on the Forest Ridge Conservation Land Acquisition, a $2.85 million project with identified state and federal funding sources including up to $1 million in potential Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grants.
Certified ecologist Christina Pilati endorsed the acquisition, emphasizing its climate-mitigation and stormwater-management value. The Conservation Commission is targeting November 2026 Town Meeting approval, with a January 2027 closing deadline to meet grant reimbursement requirements.
