CONSERVATION COMMISSION - TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE · Meeting of July 28, 2026

Winchester Conservation Commission backs forest restoration and land acquisition projects. The board unanimously approved an Order of Conditions for invasive species management at the Middlesex Fells Nike Site meadow, including glyphosate and torch treatment of Japanese knotweed and stiltgrass. For Forest Ridge acquisition, the Commission unanimously authorized a $2,500 Phase One environmental assessment (90 percent grant-funded) and voted to advance an eminent domain taking through the Winchester Community Compact Planning Committee.

The board also voted to sign onto a Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions letter opposing sections of the proposed Mass Ready Act, which they said could weaken local wetlands protections.
