Board of Appeals continues 40B hearing with engineering agreements

WINCHESTER — Zoning Board continues 40B hearing for mixed-use Washington Street project. The board heard design refinements to Melanson Development's proposal for 64 rental units and commercial space at 278 and 292 Washington Street and 12 and 16-20 Swanton Street. Applicant counsel agreed to Town Engineer conditions on stormwater management and to conduct a traffic study 12 months after commercial occupancy begins.

Cube 3 Architects presented design updates including refined bay windows, soldier course brick detailing, and adjusted trim and materials. A resident expressed concerns about the structure's scale; the architect clarified the design intent as one unified building. The hearing continues February 25 at 7 p.m.
